Ron Pattinson's Shut Up About Barclay Perkins blog has a home brew recipe
for a 1959 Watney's Stout:
http://barclayperkins.blogspot.com/2018/06/lets-brew-1959-watneys-dairy- maid-sweet.html
It includes a pinch of ginger for a five gallon batch, and in the comments
he writes it off as nothing more than weirdness by the brewer.
Can anyone think of what that ginger would be doing there? Assuming a pinch
is a 1/16 of a teaspoon per five gallons, it's hard to imagine it would
have any effect on the flavor at all.
