• Google now requires javascript

I just fired up Classilla for the first time in ages, headed to Google to
hunt out a link, but when I clicked the search button I was redirected to
a page telling me to enable Javascript to continue to use Google...

I went into Classilla's settings and the few javascript related options
were already enabled, so I'm stumped. Is it no longer possible to use
Google with Classilla? I am using Mac OS 9.2.2.

It's not the end of the world, as I then fired up Netscape Communicator
4.77 and that works absolutely fine with Google! I was able to search and
    find the info I wanted.

I hate having to use Google on my Tiger system but all the other SE suggestions in a thread I started in here a year ago either quit
working for me or never did that well.

I struggled with accessing Google on stock Classilla for awhile until
the idea came to me of deleting the Byblos for Google, which made it
work. Now, however, I'm in the same boat as you. Neither Classilla nor
IE allow me to use Google. Guess I'm stuck in the FrogFind boat forever!

We need to fight back and instead of trying to run after the big corp
www, build our own internet. Wiby.org seems like a great search engine
for finding / exposing the un-commercialized people's web, we just need
more people contribute and participate. We can certainly do this,
folks! If you have a website, start by submitting it to the wiby index, please.

Well, like I said, Netscape seems to still more or less work with Google!
I haven't tried Internet Exploder yet...

The Wiby search engine is great fun - really helps to dig up sites that
are much more Web 1.0 than 2.0 (or are we on Web 3.0 now??) - very full of nostalgia to browse, especially on this ol' OS9 Mac. Takes me back 25
    years!

When I've used Tor for the dark web, it's been a similar sense of
nostalgia - websites built in simple HTML without loads of scripts and
styling, and very reminiscent of the early days of the web when people
were putting up small sites about themselves and their hobbies and
interests. The dark web is known for its criminal side, but there are
heaps of legit/non-criminal sites on there and well worth digging into if
you want to experience the Weird Web as it felt in the late 90s/

There was never a Tor browser for classic Mac OS (as far as I know - the official Tor browser doesn't seem to have an OS9 version archived, was
there ever any other onion browsers when OS9 was still alive and
kicking?), which is a shame - would be another perfect use for our old
    Macs.
