Particularly in the education setting, which others are claiming is
what Apple is aiming the product at?
What would make it be not useful? Not sure what you are even getting at. You can do word processing, spreadsheets, simple image editing, and lots more. Why would you need an Internet connection for those things (other than setting up the computer, where it makes it easier if nothing else).
