Greg Nacu has released C64OS v1.0, his new, text-based operating system for the Commodore 64 with the minimum requirements of a SD2IEC card drive and joystick/mouse.This looks amazing, I watched the demo on Retro Recipies.
https://c64os.com/
You can use its full-featured File Manager or go into the App Launcher. Over 25 utilities are available! For more information on getting started with C64OS, see
https://c64os.com/c64os/gettingstarted/#requirements
You can purchase C64OS in two different packages (bundles). The starter bundle at $59 Canadian (not including postage and any taxes) or the standard bundle at $64 Canadian (not including postage and any taxes). See
https://c64os.com/c64os/#order
Whether you buy the starter bundle or the standard bundle, you get the pre-installed C64OS on a SD card and a very well-done, printed User's Guide Supplement, among other items.
For an up-to-date, comprehensive review of C64OS v1.0, go to Perifractic's Youtube video at

They should have made it for VICE C128 mode. They could have used the extra 64 kBytes to speed up the system.
But it is now sold out so, I guess they are making money on it.
It will be nice If it can connect via WIFI MODEM to the Internet, there will be potentially awesome!!!There are separate term programs for the C64. Or do you mean that there should be a term program built into C64OS?
What I mean is that a new OS for the C64 without the capabilities to connect directly online is almost a "closed system".Ah, you mean like GEOS had GeoTerm (and now the newer geoCBMTerm).

This is not an OS, it does replace the old OS. It boots over
it. You cannot fire up your C64 and the OS load like it does now.
Looks like they have a lot of work still to do before it is a C64 Operating System.
