Civilization VII - It's a wash that can't be fixed

So a year later on a 40% sale, I finally decided to try it.
Holy shit.
It took me all of about 10 minutes to recognize the UI horror show for
what it is. The problem with a fuckup of UX/UI on this level is that
the problems are so deep, that to truly fix things would alienate
anyone who bought it thus far and powered through the pain and got
used to it.
It was just a quick refund for me...they should probably just admit
their sins, fix everything in Civ VIII, give everyone who bought VII a
free voucher for VIII, and do some deep soul searching on what the
ever-loving fuck led them down the path to that atrocity in the first
place.
From a product branding perspective, tacking on another roman numeral
to the end of such a disasterous release might be a hurdle.
