I'm thinking about buying a scale to weigh myself every day and play
with the some of the statistics I've been learning about in The Hacker's
Diet by John Walker.
Looking into scales on the web, I see there are scales that can measure
how much water you have in your body, how much fat and muscles and
possibly other stuff. Sounds fancy and would likely give me even more
data to play with. They're very cheap, which surprised me. I was
wondering if anyone has any experience with this and would make a recommendation.
I love stuff that's high quality. I surely care about precision and durability. I wouldn't mind buying a more expensive one. But, yeah, I
did like the idea of having a scale with bioimpedance. Thanks for any information.
I have some Tayna scales

The last time I bought a scale, all I wanted to know was my weight in
KG. All the new scales provide new features like this one, and in
exchange, require the usual: internet enabled, create a user profile,
log in before use, agree to a terms of service that is updated
frequently. Then they sell your biodata.
I didn't buy one, but I'd expect that within a week of first use, many companies that have a financial interest in knowing your medical
condition will be updated on things like your biomass, water intake,
etc. and you'll start getting interesting adverts for medical
"supplements," "try this one weird trick," and the usual garbage.
The same business model, in sum.

Are they pretty good? I never ever bought a scale in my life.

I think they're pretty accurate as weighing scales, the novelty has
worn off for other features, and they're not "connected" in any way.

Omg, I had not thought of that. Thank you! So my question
becomes---can I buy any scale with bioimpedance that gives me the data without also stealing it from me?
I found a candidate. Check this one out:

That looks like a re-vstyled version of mine, no connectivity, just
gives you numbers to type into your spreadsheet ...
