YouTube downloader programs do exist. They are primarily written as command-line tools. GUI versions appear every now and then, but my
impression is that those are not as well-maintained as the underlying command-line tools. So those who stick to the GUIs inevitably end up
with out-of-date code that no longer works when YouTube does its next
update.
