semi-related: The release date for Fedora 43 was pushed back due to some
last minute bugs. It will use the 6.17 kernel. Meanwhile 6.16.x updates
    are frequent in Fedora 42.

The delay gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling compared to Microsoft's tendency
to push out patches and let the users do the testing.
