    What is python-oracledb?

    python-oracledb is a Python extension module that enables access to Oracle Database for Python and conforms to the Python database API 2.0 specifications with a number of enhancements. This module replaces cx_Oracle.

    The easiest method to install/upgrade python-oracledb is via pip as in

    python -m pip install oracledb --upgrade

    What's new?

    This release adds a number of new features and corrects a number of issues. Highlights are as follows:

    - initial support for AQ in thin mode
    - an Apache Arrow PyCapsule interface for efficient data exchange with
    external libraries
    - support for Oracle Database 23.7 SPARSE VECTOR
    - namespace package oracledb.plugins that can be used for extension of
    python-oracledb
    - support for centralized configuration providers (Oracle Cloud
    Infrastructure Object torage and Microsoft Azure App Configuration) as well
    as file-based configurations
    - cloud native authentication support through the integration of Oracle
    Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Azure SDKs
