I am on Windows. I downloaded sbbs_dev and extracted that to exec directory. After that I ran jsexec update. It says missing c:\sbbs\ctrl\msgs.ini file.. --- Synchronet 3.20a-Linux NewsLink 1.114

it literally fucking tells you the problem.
you edited it or you have some damage to that file.

you're lucky, in my day it would just crash the bbs! and we liked it!
