Ok, this is to put to rest the mystery of PCBoard Source Code. That
Was My Source Code to my 15.3 10 node version. those zip files with
the passowrd of pcb153 are mine.
they were stolen off my bbs computer by a friend I trusted to make
mods for me. the source code out WONT compile! it is missing some
librarys which lock it to my serial number and node count. and some
other miss librarys too. I have since lost my original cdroms from
clark so I am also dead in the water with PCBoard myself.
so once again, The PCBoard Source Code out there will NEVER compile.
unless a person tracted 100's of library calls and patched it all back together, serial and node routines and all. sorry. PCBoard is really
dead, unless Fred ever gets his property back.

pcb153 password works on the source files, but not the saltair bulletin.
What's the password for the saltair bulletins?

    Food for a hackfest.

A: Because it destroys the logical flow of a thread of comments,
and makes it difficult to keep up with a conversation.

Q: Why do so many people object to top posting?

A: Writing your reply to a message above what you are referring to
    rather than below it.

    Q: What is "top posting"?

very true. I think this is why no one ever bought the source code
rights from the bank. too much for source code that was too old. first
thing they would have to practicly rewrite the whole thing to
    modernize it.
It would be cheaper to just write your own.

They were floating around on the net for a while. The link where I got
them seems to be dead now though.

the source code out WONT compile! it is missing some librarys which
lock it to my serial number and node count.

They omitted source code for the serial number functions such as:
    setcollect(SERIAL)

But they only check the serial number in init.c, and with source code,
the checks were not hard to work around.

and some other miss librarys too.

The COMMDRV source is missing, but that's not important nowadays.

The PCBoard Source Code out there will NEVER compile unless a person
    tracted 100's of library calls

Tracing calls was not necessary. I used the main makefile and let the
linker complain about missing object references. It took a while, but eventually I identified all the library modules needed for building the
    main executable.

There were no makefiles for the library source code, but the C source
code was all there. So I hacked together library makefiles good enough
    to get it all built.

and patch it all back together, serial and node routines and all.

    Done.

    sorry.

Putting it back together was a chore, but doable.

PCBoard is really dead, unless Fred ever gets his property back.

It appears there is no one to defend the PCBoard source code copyrights. Copyrights can only be transferred by written document, so unless they
were transferred in writing before CDC went out of business, there is no
one possessing them. They did not magically transfer from CDC to Fred.
A written document would be needed.

    See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abandonware i.e.,

Commercial software owned by a company no longer in business: Often,
no entity defends the copyright if such software is put onto abandonware websites. An example of this is Digital Research's original PL/I compiler
for DOS. The rights to the software can not be bought by another company, therefore there is no possibility for a lawsuit.
