No one it is not in the elist system - at the moment although after adding the backbone content in it might be if I forget to remove the dead areas before doing so.

Notice there is not one for WIN10 or WIN11 but even the generic WINDOWS is
dead - according to my msg base.

Could but I am working on the elist program to take on all the areas in the backbone.na file that do not currently exist within the ELIST.* files.
These new areas (as it were) will be marked by a special flag (backbone would you believe) and will not expire nor will posts go out for them as they will be
marked as moderated by elistmaint, 2:250.1.

The main thing is that none of them have a description connected to them so if mods or any one else would like to include one that matches the Title they are more than welcome to do so and to this end the elist main data file has been changed so that the Description is removed and stored in a file similar to the Rules files - this way I can cut down on the storage requirements.

Process to offer a Description will be posted in ELIST and ECHOLIST echo's once
the program is up and running with the additions made as testing might take a little while.

These backbone echo's, some or even all can be taken on by one or more people but as they are not being moderated etc is it needed ?

The jury is out :)

Reporting will go for all will go to the files : backbone.na, .na etc.

I have a user who reads both this echo and the generic echo, and used to
often post questions here. I have not heard from him since before
Christmas and emails to him go unanswered. With the way things are these
days, as reliable of a BBS participant that he was, I am starting to be concerned.

it was about win95 and then morphed to a more general windows-based discussion area... it was one of the more active windows discussion areas for quite some time... the only real complaint that i recall was the name/echotag being too specific... other similar areas were started but none really took off... over time, discussion in here just fell off to pretty much nothing...

If I really had to choose a windows version it'd either be Windows for Workgroups 3.11 or Windows 98se.
I still use windows 98se on a few old towers I have.. Even have a browser that handles websites that aren't intense with javascript. Even handles TLS 1.2. I sometimes use it for gaming, terminal usage using Putty or even jump on mIRC once and awhile because why not!

Hope this and many other echos spring back alive.

We were running WfWg with Norton Desktop on top of it, too, at a company I worked for in 1994. Later that year I was with another company that was
using DOS machines and something that looked a lot like the shareware
program AutoMenu. We did not have email, or internet, at either company.

Most machines we had at the second place were either used to do data entry,
to access the AS-400, or, in the case of the system I used the most, to run a "Baby-36." I think mine was one of the few machines that was not a glorified dumb terminal. We sneaker-netted everything between data entry, the AS-400 access machines, and the 36 on 3.5" floppies. It was a pain in the rear
when one of those floppies crashed. I think the D/E machines were 286's, as were the ones that accessed the AS-400.

I was with that second company until 1996. I think they had a one-page
website by then, that told people how to contact them (by phone or post).
We still were using the same machines and no email or internet.
