Areas affected...Parts of east-central and northeastern Colorado

    Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 629...

    Valid 270011Z - 270145Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 629
    continues.

SUMMARY...A locally favorable corridor for severe wind gusts and
large hail is possible in the near term.

DISCUSSION...The latest radar data from KFTG/TDEN indicate a mix of
splitting cells and associated storm mergers/clustering along and
east of the Denver metro. Additionally, convective outflow emanating
from convection farther east is approaching the aforementioned
storms, which could support additional clustering/upscale growth.
Given this expected convective evolution, the presence of a
long/mostly straight hodograph (around 40 kt of 0-6 km shear per
KFTG), and steep low/midlevel lapse rates, this activity could
evolve into a loosely organized cluster over the next couple hours.
This would yield an increasing risk of severe wind gusts. In the
near term, complex storm interactions/mergers amid the favorable
environment will continue to promote instances of large hail and
locally severe wind gusts -- within Severe Thunderstorm Watch 629.
