Is anyone else having problems with the latest VADV32 (5.1.160515) locking up and not accepting inbound connections? Seems I'm having to shut down the program every day or two and restart it.

Yeah, I am setting this up as well and for some reason it is not accepting inbound telnet connections on a fully patched/updated Windows XP Pro VM.
VSMTP and VIRC both work as expected but VADV32 is not accepting telnet connections. Users just connect, and then don't get the BBS itself. Is this is same problem that you are having?

I went back to 4.8 and it seems to have fixed the problem of not accepting inbound telnet connections -- for now.

RW>VSMTP and VIRC both work as expected but VADV32 is not accepting telnet RW>connections. Users just connect, and then don't get the BBS itself. Is thi RW>is same problem that you are having?

Under Settings -> VADV Configuration -> Security -- make sure the box
noting "block IP addresses causing invalid sessions" is NOT checked. A
Visiting Sysop wasn't able to get in when I had that checked, and I also cleared out the blocked IP address file for VADV32, but have one still
set up with VSMTP32...to where only feeds from my email hub are
processed.

No, It does not get connections. Any connection attempt just times out.

I went in and UNCHECKED the box that said "block IP's causing invalid sessions"...and that seemed to solve the problem.

I put Peerblock back on, and have added the captcha.v script that
Steve Winn did, plus removed the Guest account (since all users are
GUESTS IN MY HOME), and that has cut down on these "bot logon attempts".

Guess I should take a look at Steve's captcha thing.

Steve has updated the CAPTCHA deal, and there's a beta of VADV32; both
off of the Virtual Advanced Facebook page.

The revised CAPTCHA will recognize users who have already logged on at
least once for the current day, and these won't have to enter the
CAPTCHA again until after nightly maintenance. Those who fail to enter
it are blocked from reconnecting to the BBS for an hour. You do have to
set the path for the TEMP directory in the new CAPTCHA.V file.

I have the configuration in VADV32 set to 3 repeated connects in 60
seconds to be BLOCKED. However, the box for "block IP addresses causing
invalid sessions" is UNCHECKED...it was keeping some verified users off
of the system.

The CAPTCHA will work with the ATMATRIX.V script...in DEFAULT.S -
entry 1 should have !CAPTCHA in it. If you are also using the WELCOME.V
from Tim Cornett (as I am), the first entry in DEFAULT.S is !WELCOME on
the first line, then !CAPTCHA below it. Be sure to save and compile it.

The CAPTCHA deal is required ONLY on a logon, or entering Feedback.
For whatever reason, the LOGOFF command in ATMATRIX went to the CAPTCHA instead...so, I just removed the LOGOFF option. I do note on the
LOGINMNU.ANS screen that if they don't want to logon, they can just drop
the telnet connection.

As for Guest on the website, I set the read level to 10 for the local
areas, and for downloading from most (but not all) of the file areas.
This way, a "Guest" can read local message areas (no posting), and
download from most of the BBS's file areas, without actually logging on.
