The US has once again imposed additional import tariffs on 60 trading partners. It is becoming increasingly clear that as a company and as a country, you are better off without dependence on the US. The question now is how these countries will respond to the US. These additional import duties affect more than 99% of everything the US imports. Ultimately, therefore, American consumers and businesses are paying more.

A few hours before high import tariffs were set to take effect between the US and Canada, the parties reached an agreement after all. The Americans are suspending the 50% import duties on certain Canadian products indefinitely. Indefinitely means until Trump forgets about this deal again and lets the situation escalate once more. That is often the case within one to two weeks. We shall see how things play out now.

I've been riding along with my daughter while she drives (with her permit) and seeing her at the steering wheel brings back memories from when she was a toddler and I'd let her "steer" and push all the buttons while we'd wait for mom to come out of a store. Those were fun times!

Turned 16 on the 1st of July. and now she drives...

I paid for lessons and helped near the end. I'm not made of the same stuff when my others were younger.

I don't care ... we can focus on non driving things now.

School starts soon.

In Michigan, you can get a learner's permit at 15 and can drive with an adult in the car.
You can get your license at 16 with parental permission.
At 18 you can get your license no matter what.

I think they added extra restrictions in the 16, 17 age group about driving at night and how many friends you can have in the car too. Just to prevent accidents and distracted driving problems until they get more practice.

I think it's all about consequences.

They WANT to drive, so they want to understand what NOT to do in order to not have their car priviledges revoked.

But today we have too many entitled people who think that the rules

The cops here used to be really tough. When I was a kid they pulled me out of the back seat of a stolen jeep by the throat and they beat the sh!t out of my friend who they pulled out of the passenger seat (neither of us knew that we were riding in a stolen vehicle.)

But now they're different. The county sheriff is a great guy, but the state and city cops don't do jack. This area was "reformed" by Andrew Cuomo, Kathy Hochul, and George Soros in a horrible way.

It has become clear why the Canadians walked away from the negotiations with the US. At the last minute, the Americans demanded that their products only have English-language information on the labels. Canada is bilingual, and this foolish demand from the Americans made no sense. The Canadian delegation knew enough then and walked away.

Canada and Mexico??

The US/Canada/Mexico deal has windows of time that they can review and renegotiate aspects.

This windows started in July, as per the contract.
