Hi All!

Noticed a strange thing. My 6to4 tunnel (he.net) has recently started to work poorly in some directions. This is expressed in the fact that a connection to a remote host is established, a few bytes are transmitted and then the session stops, after that the connection is terminated by timeout. Changing provider solved the problem. What could be the cause?

It seems to work now, so obviously the problem is with your previous provider.

Russian internet is broken in 3 ways:

1. Every provider has to block a lot of websites via home made solutions with bugs/problems/etc.
2. "TSPU"s (blocking devices) are installed all over the Russia and blocking a lot of websites with many bugs in configuration/settings.
3. Roskomnadzor/MVD/FSB are "asking" transit opeertors to do additional blocking.

All this mess leads to many network problems which are different in different provider's networks.

Changing provider solved the problem. What could be the cause?

I have been unable to make an IPv6 connect with your system since you moved away from Hetzner. Ipv4 is no problem.

So why did you move away from Hetzner? Were you forced?

Actually, China has great plans. They aim for IPv6 only by 2030 and new networks won't be allowed to use IPv4 by the end of 2023.

At the same time, IPv4 works well. It was even a pity to say goodbye to this provider after so many years.

Changing provider solved the problem. What could be the cause?

Switching provider helped me radically. I can see that there is a very serious organization opposite my house, which is also connected to this provider, and there were exactly the same problems that ISP could not solve.

Please ask about cat next time, because most of the questions related to broken Internet in Russia are related to our censorship.
If you ok with our internet censorship - you should be ok with suffering from consequences.

He.net was blocked couple of times on TSPU level in some regions of Russia and there is no way to get any official list of blocked resources (from nearest TSPU).

Quite possible. I didn't think about it.

The sollution for me is switching to a newer DSL modem. I could do that for free with my current provider. Or switch to an other provider, which will also provide a newer modem. I choose the latter.

IPv4 is native, IPv6 is tunneled.

The problems seem to be related to he.net. There are other nodes in R50 who's he.net tunnel is not working. Dmitry Smirnov of 5010/252 is using a tunnel from TUNNL-BROKER-NET-1. How about trying that one?

Or get your ISP to support native IPv6...

It was a very good month, btw, because I was able to get couple of servers at Hetzner very cheap because some Russians decided to not switch banks and keep their Visa/MC. Now they work as VPN servers to allow Russians to get access to free Internet (with ipv6)..
