Not really bbs news, but had to post due to the coolness of it. Reminds me Telehack.

I'm glad you got a momentary thrill from sharing this while we all got a wristslapping from Andrew for being off-topic about the certification scam.

Apologies for the off-topic post, 100% on me. My issue is i get in a rush and > Fido does have strict policy.
Will move the my rss cross posts to another FTN where its not as strict due to the fact I 100% know I'll do it again! <g>
Again, my apologies.

Well it wasn't really off topic. It was bbs related.
Andrew is sean's bitch anyways. You know he was told to post that. "Andrew run micronet! don't run micronet! give it back to me! andrew

If you have any issues with moderator decisions or actions, NetMail is the proper place to address them, not in this echo.
You are just demonstrating,
as usual, that you don't know as much as you think you do.

Exactly.. but thinking it though, I only started posting on FTN/QWK because one guy asked on discord. Fact is, its not really needed. RSS is super easy pull w/ apps for everything including dos.

I had to move my website back to OVH because its getting slammed with bots, AI models and what I suspect is someone running a program to mooch every stinkin file off the site. Doesn't matter if I rate-limit. If
there was some way to blacklist entire ASN's or by geo-IP it would
solve a lot... but not all.

This is how I block by ASN on linux (Just giving you the info, not going in Linux/WIN etc wars).
for i in $(whois -h whois.radb.net -- '-i origin AS15169' | grep
"^route:" | cut -d ":" -f2 | sed -e 's/^[ \t]*//' | sort -n -t . -k
1,1 -k 2,2 -k 3,3 -k 4,4 | cut -d ":" -f2 | sed 's/$//') ;
I'd rather block things before it hits the server...

snort might do what you want. For my BBS and its web server, I have a stringent iptables firewall and fail2ban as pfSense does not monitor open ports at all itself.
Thats what I'm leaning towards...

I also auto-validate my links nightly, and if I notice a site has been offline for a long time, I replace the URL with an archived one. That's how I > found out Sunrise Doors folded like 2 months after the fact.
In any case, it's more likely StingRay found the info from my site since we're compadres in this hobby. Not everything is about you :P

I dunno, found it VERY odd it was the same day. There are lots of days archived there and it just happened to be some random one I picked, as the day before and after (day captured), looked the same.
