    Hi everyone,

    I discovered that The Semware Editor, successor to QEdit, is now
    freeware for Windows and Linux. It's a really powerful text-based
    editor. It's available at semware.com.

    I use it as my Windows box's text editor and with Multimail.

    That's cool, but I'm more of a purist. I still use DOS EDIT.COM ... the ver from Win95 works great still. Just can't print, but for that, there's notepad. :)

    I like EDIT.COM also but my time is more valuable than using the wrong tool for the job.

    Yeah, me too. And to think: it's just unlocking code (the so-called "Soft-PC" VDM) that was already in NTVDM all these years and Microsoft could have easily done the same (or maybe not so "easy" due to licensing concerns).

    Kindof surprised they didn't just outright buy it out. They used to be good for that way back when.

    I love the Rube Goldberg contraption that is DISM for managing the eternal

    Notepad++ is free and open source, so that appears to be a big difference. I actually don't use text mode editors in Windows, but I spend a lot of time in vim on Linux. When I am using a GUI on Linux (which isn't often), then it's usually Geany as my editor of choice these days.

    yeah but i really like editpad. it's great. i've used notepad++ a bit but i really like editpad. it has a free version that most people would be happy with. I don't see something as being open sourced as a draw.
