I do not know if Ken still maintains the reg system and although I have the one
from 2002 here it sits on a Linux system and it is not straght forward to use assuming I can or should. I got the code base to fix allfix in the 2000's but had a lot of issues with missing sources which required a major rebuild and my skill set with Pascal was just plain not good enough so I passed it back.

One area I was interested was getting both Filemgr and Allfix to compile using the FPC (Free Pascal Compiler). That way multi platform versions could be compiled how ever at least for Filemgr it use both internal Assembler and Assembler routines. Now many if not all of these can be discontinued to use Pascal only as speed of moderm CPUs no longer present work flow when the Filemgr / Allfix runs there are still various problems to deal with and as I say my skillset with Pascal is now very rusty so I am hardly the right person for the task.

Can I suggest you try to use different products or versions to run Allfix under
and see if that fixes the problem of having CPU workloads at 100% as this should not be happening. MAy be look at some other emulators of the Dos or other environments that you can run in your systems environment.

All version s of v5 Allfix require a key. When I receive the copies of the source code, it was all for v6, and nothing vor v5.

It is a big project, and it is still in the work. I have been reversing a lot of the mail tossing portion removed and just going back to only doing a file tossing as was originally done.

The way Freepasal handels variables to Turbo Pascal caused a lot of compile failures. There were a lot of changes taht needed to be done. Changing a lot of
the assembler routines that were in the code needed to be removed (as they were
16 bit code, and Freeascal is a 32 bit) this needed to be re-written. And goin g to a 64 bit even more changes are needed. This is a reason for a bit re-write
on a lot of the code.

Can I suggest you try to use different products or

I am runnining my version of allfix on a esxi serverm running windows 8.1 32bit, and everything seems to be runnning without issues.
Of course I want to get a more native windows version as this will run more natively, as well as a linux version. I run a lot of FreeBSD and Debian systems
and I want to get it so I can run it on these. This is one reason for the big code change. I wosh it could happen overnight, but it is going to take time.

Hi Ken,

Damn shame that THE BEST file processor is now crippleware. Can't
imagine wrting 70,000 lines of code and losing it to antiquity. I and
many others still find v5.13 for DOS relevant. I would dearly love to
get a regged copy.

So if there is no chance of creating registrations for v5.13, would you
grant permission to "SHARE" a registartion with someone who has one?
Or is there yet still a possibility of getting the source code and
generating a key?

Version 6.1 is now on the website. It does not require a key. There may still be some bugs that I haven't found yet, but please report then if you do find then and I can get them knocked out as quick as I can.

I have found the code for the keys, and I have compiled then. When I tested them on my system Allfix would complain that they are invalid.

The issue with sharing keys is the key is also tied to the sysop name.

Yes, I was able to locate the code and get them to compile. Just everything that I tried on a clean install of Allfix, it would complain that the key was invalid. This was with creating the new SCS file, and inputting the new key.

I just added a directive to comment out the registration portion, and force all
copies as registered for v6.1

The Free Pascal version is coming along and making progress. i am thinking I will have a gamma ready in 2019Q2 or 3.
