I saw this article yesterday - Intel is not doing very well, to the point where they may even stop manufacturing chips:

They'll still "make" chips, but I imagine they might not own (as many) fabs any more.

It looks like the article is much shorter than it appeared when I saw it yesterday.. I recall reading in the article yesterday that Intel would just design chips, similar to what ARM does, and not manufacture chips. But maybe that's not the case.

Somehow I was able to read the full article the first time I saw it, but now I see that it wants me to log in, which will probably show the full article.

Similarly, it wanted me to disable my adblocker. I closed the browser, and didn't read the article. ;)

I run into the same thing. If I feel like I have to read the
article, I'll temporarily disable the ad blocker. Otherwise, I
    close the window on it.

Never before has one needed to disable an ad blocker to read an article/webpage, until recently. If they want to shove that many cookies down our throats, or bombard us with advertisements, or force one to give up their location, I'm not interested enough to use their site.

usually the news sites do it.
i just turn off javascript with an addon and it allows it.
usually it's not even worth reading.

Agreed. If I could pick the ads for products that I wanted or
needed, it'd be a different story.

Over 20 years ago, before my wife passed away, I got items
addressed to me in the mail and email for feminine hygiene
products. Being a smart-aleck, I said "maybe I should check
into this". She growled, "Don't even think about it!!". <G>

I got the same reaction when we went to get our flu shots.
They have since modified the consent form to note "WOMEN ONLY"
for the question about being pregnant. <G>

I wonder if the trick to get around paywalls (open developer tools
console, run the command "DISABLE JAVASCRIPT" then reloading the page)
would work with ad blocker popups?

My SPAM folder tells a story. First I got emails from match.com, trying
to find a partner to date. Then, it was eHarmony, deciding I was ready
to settle down with the love of my life.

A few years later, I was bombarded with Ashley Madison ads, apparently
thinking my eHarmony soulmate and I were unhappy together.

Then came MyTime, a dating site for 50+ singles "looking for a little
    fun".

Now, they've collectively given up on my love life. I get SPAM emails
from GolfMates trying to find quality golf foursomes.
