Microsoft to Stop Supporting Office 2016 for Mac in October <https://www.macrumors.com/2020/08/03/microsoft-stop-supporting-office-2016-october/>

"Connecting to Office 365 services using Office 2016 for Mac isn't
    supported after October 13, 2020. That's because Office 2016
for Mac reaches end of support on that date."

    1. I remember way back when Mac versions of Word and Excel were actually
almost useful and not over-bloatedly full of awful gimmickry and bugs. :-(

    2. Please do NOT reply to Arlen Holder's posts. He's a stupid anti-Apple
troll. Just ignore everything posted that braindead cretin ... better
yet, add the idiot to your newsreader's killfile / filter like those
of us with common sense have already done (until the moron changes
his name yet again, like all idiot trolls do).

Ditto. Hence, why I still prefer and use old versions even if unsupported.

The last good version of Word was 5.1, and it is untenable on a modern machine and cannot produce documents any modern user can work with.

    Wow, from 90s according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Microsoft_Office. I
still remember the DOS version during the early 90s. I was jealous of those GUI word
processors. I remember getting one (forgot its name) on my Apple //c after seeing it in
action in my junir high schools' computer lab even though it was slow compared to
    Macs.

What do you use these days? I use old 2007 SR3 and LibreOffice v7.0 (just came out
yesterday!) in my decade old, updated 64-bit W7 HPE SP1 PC. 2011 in mac OS Mojave
v10.14.6. LibreOffice v5.2.7 in my 12 years old Debian Jessie v8 PC.

o Because they prove that I'm correct that they _hate_ facts about Apple!

What apologists _hate_ is that I always speak facts, verbatim, about Apple.
o Apologists hate what Apple is so much they deny all facts they don't like.

Apologists like Your Name are literally _afraid_ of facts, in fact...
o They routinely killfile anyone who speaks verbatim facts about Apple.

Facts are extremely _dangerous_ to completely imaginary belief systems.
o Type III apologist implore everyone to _ignore_ all facts about Apple.

On the very *very* rare occasions I need a word processor I use Pages.
On the very *very* rare occasions I need to open an Open Office file I
go download the latest version of OO or Libre Office, open the file, and
then pretty shortly after that I delete Open Office/Libre Office.

The only reason I keep Pages around is because my invoice template is in
    Pages.

The last time I needed a real word processor that I needed to produce
real output on (that is to say, something more complicated than a
letter) I used BBEdit and LaTeX. I produced a document that looked like
it had come from a professional print shop that had never heard of MS
Word. The footnotes where a dead give-away that I'd done something
beyond the recipients ability to replicate.
