Just to show you how versatile the inventory presented by our hundreds of sellers can be, we've been researching little-known national and world-wide "holidays" that most people aren't familiar with and matching them up with items for sale on TIAS.com.

    5. Be sure to visit our boards on Pinterest! https://www.pinterest.com/TIASAntiques/

Visit our board for examples of the March Birthstone Aquamarine or Bloodstone https://www.pinterest.com/TIASAntiques/march-birthstone- aquamarine-or-bloodstone/ [wraps]

Aquamarine is derived from Latin word aqua, meaning water, and marina, meaning the sea. Was believed to protect sailors, as well as to guarantee a safe voyage. The serene color of aquamarine is said to cool the temper, allowing the wearer to remain calm and levelheaded. The 2nd birthstone for March is bloodstone, dark-green jasper flecked with vivid red spots of iron oxide. This
ancient stone was used by Babylonians to make seals and amulets. Here are items from merchants at http://www.tias.com/

Patricia in WA submitted her story about hidden treasures. Her measuring tape/magnifier is going in the mail! We have a number of other stories that have been submitted which we'll share in the coming weeks.

The elderly widow next door to my Mom passed away. She had been an interesting
British lady who dressed up every day of her life! High heels, girdles (remember those?), stockings.

Her 2 children had come to dispose of the remains of the house, but were first working on her clothing (and some of their Dad's who had died the year before).
My Mom came over to visit with them. They were so proud that they had done so
much work already bringing over quite a few boxes to the Goodwill the day before.

My Mom stared at them in shock when she heard that, she intended to give them some information on the clothing and couldn't imagine they had disposed of stuff so quickly!

"Did you know about her money in the bras?" "Did you know about your Dad's belts?"

It turned out that the elderly lady would cut slits in her bras and sew 50.00 &
    100. bills into them. The leather belts of her husband were done the same way.

NO! Their eyes registered the shock....all that underwear, all those belts,......given away the previous day.

The lady had been so careful preparing for an emergency with hidden money...but
never told her children ...instead she had told my Mom, her close friend.

Just a funny story that has stuck with me for years!

Always enjoy your newsletters! Thank you!

    Patricia M
