    7. This Week's Stories and Requests for Help We try to post stories and comments from our readers each week. Send your story to
    newsletter@tias.com.

Laurie M sent in this "spooky" story:

"I collect old books, and read every one. One day I was in a used book
store, and I found an interesting old book from the 1920s. When I went to
pay for my book, I was immediately "creeped out" (if you know what I mean)
by the shop owner, who I hadn't noticed when I arrived. Within the next
fews days, I swear I had a string of bad luck - small things, but after a
while I started to wonder what the heck was going on. I read on the local
news a week or so later, that the bookstore where I purchased this book had burned to the ground - not just a fire, but it was a total loss. I know it sounds crazy, but I got rid of that book that same day, and my luck changed
    for the better."

If you have a "haunted" collection, drop us a note at newsletter@tias.com. --------------------------

Here's another recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens 1965 ring binder cookook. Seems like a nice alternative to pricey flavored crackers,
    without much time or effort.

    Seeded Crackers
    Oven 350 Degrees

Select saltines, rich round crackers, crisp rye wafer, or other crackers. Brush with melted butter or margarine. Sprinkle with one or a combination
of the following: onion or garlic powder--caraway, celery, dill, poppy or sesame seed. Heat on cooky sheet at 350 degrees about 5 minutes or until
    crisp and hot.

Email recipes@tias.com if you have a vintage recipe you'd like to share or
if you're looking for a recipe!
